Task Analysis 4:

This is another type of Rock magazine available and produced in the UK. The magazine aims at being more "underground" and less commercial, while also giving coverage to more well-known acts. Also some of the genres it can cover consist of; pop punk, post-hard-core, metal core, punk, emo, hard-core, heavy metal and extreme metal genres. Rock Sound was launched in March 1999 by the French publisher later brought by the director Patrick Napier in December 2004, with its offices in London. The magazine is well known for including a free CD in most issues, which has tracks from bands' new albums that have not been released as singles. The first issue was published in April 1999. Issue 2 featured British band Reef on the front cover, and later issues 3 and 8 featured Terrorvision and Foo Fighters. The magazine has quite a versatile and widespread audience with its main competitor being ‘Kerrang’ as it has the same genre featured however it is a weekly magazine.

Task Analysis 5:

Although there are subverting stereotypes of this genre the members are all still quite facially relaxed and emotionless and their clothing still has a 'rock vibe' as they are wearing printed t-shirts and denim jackets with beanies still conforming to this genre and its style as well as merchandise.

Genre Research:
Rock is a form of popular music which evolved from rock and roll and pop music during the mid and late 1960s. Harsher and often self-consciously more serious than its predecessors, it was initially characterised by musical experimentation and drug-related or anti-establishment lyrics.
Musically, rock has centred on the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with electric bass guitar and drums. The genre has become extremely diverse. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis. The dominance of rock by white, male musicians has been seen as one of the key factors shaping the themes explored in rock music. Rock places a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship, live performance, and an ideology of authenticity than pop music. It is also quite a male dominated genre with very little female presence.
