Initial ideas:

  • Masthead; Priority: as this relates to getting across main points as a magazine would and emphasises the importance of how it can help students and give them advice when starting sixth form.
  • Model: Abigail- looking directly into the camera/audience; smoking or alcoholism as the peer pressure issue. Possibly raised eyebrow and blurred out backing scene against a wire/gate background. The models appearance: slouched posture, dark/dramatic lip. Lit cigarette in one hand and other arm folded.
  • Content: peer pressure, this affects all young people in environments with friends making it a widespread topic which could affect all teenagers and getting across the importance of knowing hat to do and how to prevent it instead of doing what your peers are doing.
  • Idea of sheep- resembles following and the articles aim to get people to break away from following, mind over matter concept.
  • All information on one side of the image to grasp attention of the reader and emphasise the models actions.
  • Different fonts and colours.
  • background - brick wall, wired fencing, grass, floor or a dark shed.

  Here are a few of the fonts I looked at using on my cover magazine.

This is my finished magazine front cover based on peer pressure;

WWW: I particularly like the models facial expressions and how the photograph came out as she looks quite intimidating and rebellious supporting my theme of peer pressure. I also like the slogan as it is short and refers to how to overcome the strain of peer pressure. I think the editing of the image was successful as it didn't wash out the model or the background and the lighting contrast makes the props appear more visible.
EBI: Although I really like the photograph because of the different colours and the contrast in the background on the right hand side I found it difficult to get the writing visible on both the brow and white. I would also have left a spacing at the top so the masthead could of been bigger and towards the centre of the image with the background the plain brick wall to make colouring easier.
